HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Our Elves Weigh In: Naughty or Nice?
Happy December! Our company “elves” have been watching closely, and keeping track of the “Naughty and Nice” moments happening in the office, from gift giving and holiday celebrations to our water cooler needing replacement but receiving a used one! Yuck! As well, they are peeking into what’s happening in the world of business and creativity.
Below the KGI “elves” share experiences with AI. Some AI examples feel a bit mischievous, while others are undeniably magical. So, is AI helping us create more, or is it stirring up a little holiday chaos? It depends on who you ask. Naughty, Nice or a little bit of both? See our examples below and weigh in. Plus we included some tips for using AI to help with your menu this holiday season. We would love to hear your thoughts.
On the Nice side our “elves” are helping share that KGI Design Group was featured by Long Island Business News. Read more below.

BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT
AI... Naughty or Nice?
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
AI is the hot topic in every industry right now, and it is exploding in the creative world. At KGI we’ve been exploring its role in design, branding, business processes, and even our personal lives. Here’s our take:
NICE! The Good: Simplifying Life and Processes. AI can be used to streamline processes in life and in business. Whether you are plugging in your credentials and trying to find a career that best fits your current lifestyle or breaking down day to day office tasks in an effort to create common practices throughout the organization. We have found from recent experience that these types of applications have been most successful for our team at the office and in our personal lives.
One of Kim’s most successful applications, the Good she explained was preparing her family Easter meal. “We had to juggle a leg of lamb, a spiral ham, trays of lasagna, and all the appropriate sides, bread and apps with one oven in our kitchen, one microwave, one toaster oven and use of our neighbor’s oven. I tossed and turned in bed the night before trying to figure out how I would juggle it all and serve it together hot. Then it hit me, why not put each dish, approximate weight, size, and the times I wanted to serve the dishes in Chatgpt. Within seconds I had a full itinerary of which dish, went into which oven, and for how long. Success! We managed to serve everyone a joyous and delicious family meal.”
Why not try this for your holiday gatherings? Whether trying to juggle the Feast of Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve or 8 nights of Hanukkah meals, AI can help you plan ahead.
Naughty! The Bad: When AI Misses Our Expectations
To follow the viral AI-generated doll packaging trend, we tried to make fun blister pack versions of ourselves. All the examples people were posting looked adorable. So Kim uploaded a photo of herself. Voila! But ChatGPT had its own thoughts, and the image took an unexpected turn. The first attempt definitely crossed the line! Kim explains it here: “After putting in my image and prompts for text and color I received my first iteration. OMG! Is This FATGPT was all I could think!
What? Tree trunk legs?? No neck?? I was not happy. Kim made a second attempt prompting a slimmer version, added the dog and a fun quote. Still not good! Ying again a three and four were unsettling with odd expressions and facial features, also the ai continued to change things that were prompted to “stay the same”.
After 7 attempts came the realization Kim said,” If I wanted this to really look good, I had to do it as a human and not use AI. With my own custom retouching in photoshop”. The last image was the most successful in the end. And though AI had a good start it could not create the final image.
VERY NAUGHTY! Or Just Plain Ugly: Over-relying on AI risks losing originality, personality, and that human touch that makes design meaningful. Also it’s not always accurate, and without human oversight, results can feel generic, off brand or look completely ridiculous!
Using Ai alone to generate advertisements can lead to critical design errors that anyone can easily pick up on hands with 7 fingers, bodies with more than 2 arms, and incorrect text. Did Washington cross the Delaware with zombies? How many pairs of glasses does Teddy need? Look closely to count the many discrepancies.
While AI continues to spark new possibilities, it is also prompting conversations about authenticity, originality, and copyright. It blurs the line between inspiration and imitation, making it harder to tell authentic creativity and storytelling with unoriginal concepts.
At KGI, we believe the best work happens when innovation supports intentions: AI can assist, but humans still bring the true creativity. We see AI as a tool, not a replacement. It can help refine ideas, but creativity, storytelling, and strategy will always come from people.
