ADAPTIVE ELEGANCE

Inclusive Photoshoot with Founder Kim Minto

On a recent bright, sunny Friday in Uniondale as gorgeous light streamed through huge glass windows at RXR Plaza, we staged a photo shoot of Kim Minto, Founder and Editor of Sitting Beauty magazine. The magazine focuses on fashion, and style for differently abled people. The chosen location couldn’t have been a better fit, fully ADA-compliant with roomy restrooms, wide hallways, and elevators that made it easy to move rolling racks and mobility devices. Founder Kim Minto glowed in the spotlight, bringing her personal style and the possibilities of adaptive fashion with her.

But this was more than a photoshoot—it was a full production put together by KGI Design Group. From scouting a location that was modern and accessible to coordinating wardrobe with the client, makeup, and photography, our team handled crucial details necessary to make sure both the talent and the brand were supported.

Our beauty crew, makeup artist Olivia Mena and intern Mayelie Mena, kept Kim glowing through multiple outfit changes featuring Anthropologie’s Adaptive Clothing Line, paired with Zappos’ Adaptive Shoe Collection. Together, they showed how fashion and accessibility truly go hand-in-hand. We also made sure to balance indoor and outdoor shots to accommodate light sensitivity, so every image came out just right for print and digital.

Behind the camera, Long Island newcomer DeAndra Chaffino of DKC Collective worked one-on-one with Kim to capture everything from cover-worthy portraits and head shots to social media moments. A highlight of the day came in the sparkling lobby of Platinum Rapid Funding Group, complete with coffee table books on Dior and Chanel, which turned out to be an unexpected but perfectly on-brand backdrop. We’re so thankful for their generosity. And to top it off, William, a friendly driver from Nassau County’s NICE bus service, joined in for a few shots outside, making the day even more memorable.

At KGI Design Group, we see photoshoots as more than just taking pictures. They’re about telling your brand’s story, connecting with your audience, and making sure everyone involved feels included and comfortable. Whether you’re launching a new campaign, updating your brand visuals, or creating fresh social media content, we’ve got the creativity, experience, and resources to make it all happen—seamlessly, stylishly, and inclusively.

Pro Photoshoot Tips for Businesses

Thinking about scheduling a shoot for a business? Here are a few simple tips to get the most out of your time in front of the camera:

1. Know your brand colors + vibe
Bring outfits, props, or settings that reflect your identity.

2. Mix up the shots
Plan for both polished images and candid behind-the-scenes moments.

3. Keep your audience in mind
Ask yourself, “Where will these photos live?” (social, website, print) and shoot accordingly.

⭐️ Reminder ⭐️
A good photoshoot should tell your story, not just give you pretty pictures.

Fresh perspectives make every project stronger! Here’s our intern Mayeli Mena’s point of view.

“When I first arrived, I was surprised at how beautiful the space was, even though it wasn’t a rented studio. There was something authentic about it that made the whole experience feel more real. Watching Kimberly go through her process, her makeup, her outfit changes, and the way she transformed with each look was truly inspiring. You could just feel the good vibes in the room. Everyone was welcoming, supportive, and genuinely excited to see this magazine come to life. The photographer captured every moment perfectly, both the behind-the-scenes details and the main highlights. I walked away feeling grateful to have been part of such a creative, positive, and unforgettable experience.”
